Dear Editor, We are now in May, which makes it almost five months since the PNP won the general election, and so far the only "change" I have seen is the one where all those politicians affiliated with the PNP have been given promotions, not based so much on their ability to perform, but seemingly because they are supporters of the party. Is this part of the change that Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller is so proud of? I would have thought that by now, seeing how influential she is, more wo

Dear Editor, I wish to express my sadness at the death of former Inspector of Police Delvin Grant of the Protective Services Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force. I first met this pleasant and unassuming member of the force in the 1990s, when he was engaged along with legendary crime fighter, Inspector Aston "Jerry" Pollack, in ensuring the safety of Mrs Portia Simpson Miller, in her capacity then as a minister of government and a most popular national leader. Inspector Grant was distin

With all the pomp surrounding the recent selection of Portia Simpson Miller to TIME Magazine's Most Influential People In The World list, the new Government is probably enmeshed by nonchalance since this superb achievement. Maybe the 100 days list of achievements should have waited a little longer for publication so this could be included.

We are proud of Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller for being acknowledged by Time magazine in New York City. However, we believe she should have cut her entourage in a time of economic hardship, especially when a tough budget is to be presented. Travelling with such a large delegation, especially before what will be the tabling of a difficult budget, sends a bad signal. The prime minister missed a grand opportunity to issue a message to the Jamaican people that she too is willing to tighten

Journalists and commentators have made a lot of the Portia Simpson Miller administration's first 100 days in office, pontificating on what has and has not been accomplished and whether or not it has clearly outlined how it intends to govern a country that has proclaimed that it wants to attain developed world status by 2030.

Dear Editor, I am appalled at the level of depravity that has been demonstrated in Montego Bay with the desecration of the Jamaican flag at the March 29 swearing-in ceremony of new St James councillors. The fact that the colour green, representing the fertility of the land and also used by another party, was eliminated from a symbol of our pride as a nation demands the immediate attention of Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller herself. This is an opportunity for Mrs Simpson Miller to set a
